We know when “Game of Thrones” starts filming again, and we’re so close to the end it hurts

It’s hard to believe that Season 7 of Game of Thrones is almost over. Doesn’t it feel like it just started?! But with a shorter number of episodes, the season went by quicker than usual. So now, we’ve already started to wonder when Season 8 will be here.

And it turns out filming will pick back up soon, which means the end of Game of Thrones is so close.

Over the course of the final (???) two seasons of Game of Thrones, we’re getting fewer episodes than usual. But on the upside, they’re longer. In effect, the seven episodes of Season 7 actually took the same amount of time — about six months — to film as the 10 episodes of Season 6. We’re only getting six episodes with Season 8, but assuming that the show will end with an EPIC bang, it seems possible that filming could take the same amount of time.

Now the question is: When will Season 8 go into production, and when will we get those episodes? No word from HBO yet (but, they have been busy lately). However, in a recent interview with Collider, Nikolaj Coster-Waldau (Jaime Lannister) did give a hint about when filming will resume for Season 8:

“You get the scripts a month before we start shooting, or six weeks, and then you know what’s going to happen that season. But, I don’t know what’s going to happen next season. We go back in October, so maybe in the next few weeks, we’ll get the scripts and I’ll find out. I’m very curious.

Wow! October is soon, which means the final season of Game of Thrones is almost upon us, and we don’t like to think about that.

But actually, we miss Winterfell already!

Since the show doesn’t start filming until October, Season 8 likely won’t air until mid to late 2018 at the earliest. But honestly, any time would be too soon for the show to end.
