How we’re prepping for the return of ‘Game of Thrones’
WINTER IS COMING. Actually, no, it’s totally not—it’s officially spring. But we’ve got Game of Thrones on the mind.
As any true GoT fan knows, liking this show is a beautifully difficult journey. First of all, we’ve got to wait until April every single year (SO MUCH TIME TO WAIT). Secondly, it’s an emotional rollercoaster.
Many people have read the books and have an idea of what will happen next, but if you’re like me and have been trying to catch up but to no avail (those books are LONG and there are so many books to read in the world!), get ready: the premiere of the fifth season is on April 12th. And apparently, it’s going to be intense.
“It’s a grown-up show,” Liam Cunningham, who plays Davos Seaworth, told People. “If you sign up for it, then you have to be prepared for the worst.” We kind of figured as much, since George R. R. Martin has a penchant for killing off our fave characters (and breaking our hearts).
Even though we’re still a few weeks away from the season opener, it’s time to start gearing up for the GoT greatness. So here’s how to prep:
Rewatch the finale of season four
It’s time to remind yourself why April 12th is so darn important. Rewatch the heart-pounding season four finale, entitled “The Children.” After all, it’s been a long time since you watched it, probz: it premiered a long, suspenseful nine months ago on June 15th.
Afterwards, you’ll remember everything that kept you on the edge of your seat. Like, did Tywin really die? What about The Hound? And what will happen to Tyrion?
SO MANY QUESTIONS.
Follow the stars
No, this isn’t some inspirational sentiment. I mean, follow the GoT celebs on Twitter and Instagram, because they’ve got some pretty great stuff to dish. OK, well, maybe it’s more about the HILARIOUS stuff they tweet. For example, Maisie Williams, who plays Arya Stark, tweeting adorbs pictures of her and Isaac Hempstead White (Bran) as youngsters:
Or Sophie Turner (Sansa) and her views on important issues:
(I totally agree with you, Sophie, BTW.)
You can also follow Maisie and Sophie on Instagram…and check out how adorable their friendship is:
D’AW.
Buy temporary Game of Thrones tattoos
Want to show off your pride for your favorite house? Splurge a little on a few temporary tattoos. There are a ton available on Etsy, but here are a couple of our favs:
You might even love it so much that you’ll get the real thing.
Do your hair. . .GoT style
Besides the BAMF characters and awesome plot, one of our favorite aspects of the series is the totally gorg style. I mean, those hairdos are to die for (literally, in some cases). They’re insanely intricate—they look practically impossible to do.
Luckily, some very talented people have figured out some fabulous tutorials that are surprisingly simple. There’s the Daenerys:
There’s the Sansa:
And there are plenty more where that came from, thanks to Pinterest. Now all you need are the badass dresses to match.
Start loading up on GoT Tumblrs
Because no one will get you more pumped up for a show than Tumblr fans. There are so many pages to check out. There are fashion pages, like What Would Khaleesi Wear (gotta love Daenerys’s style!). There are gorgeous fan art pages, like F*ck Yeah Game Of Thrones Art. And, of course, there are hysterical memes, like Thrones Meme and Tumblr Of Thrones. . .because what would life be without memes?
We are SO excited for April 12th that it feels like a long time to wait. But remember: only a few weeks left! Stay strong. And when that fateful day does finally get here, beware. . .for the night is dark and full of terrors.
