Because go big or go home, HBO is developing *four* different “Game of Thrones” spinoffs

Since HBO wants to keep the party going in Westeros for as long as possible, there’s been talk for a while about a possible Game of Thrones spinoff. George R. R. Martin’s epic world is HUGE, and Game of Thrones has only touched a small fraction of the stories that can be told. One way or another, a Game of Thrones spinoff is happening.

And now, it sounds like we might get not just one spinoff, but FOUR.

Basically, one for Dany, and then another each for her three dragons, too. Because the more the merrier.

According to HBO, they have hired four different writers to helm four different projects: Max Borenstein (Kong: Skull Island, Fox’s Minority Report); Jane Goldman (Kingsman: The Secret Service, X-Men: First Class), who will work alongside with Martin; Brian Helgeland (A Knight’s Tale, L.A. Confidential); and Carly Wray (Mad Men), also teaming up with Martin.

Current Game of Thrones showrunners, Dan Weiss and David Benioff, will be on hand to help with the projects, but they won’t be writing any of them, as that falls all on these writers. HBO has provided no information as to what these projects will be about — whether prequels, sequels, or spinoffs — or even who might pop up in them.

How does it feel to have FOUR Game of Thrones projects in the works and to know NOTHING about them?? Man, what a day to feel like Jon Snow.

There’s also no timeframe as to when these shows might hit HBO. “We’ll take as much or as little time as the writers need and, as with all our development, we will evaluate what we have when the scripts are in,” a spokesperson told Variety.

So our nights are dark, but hey, at least they’ll be filled with multiple Game of Thrones shows in the future.
