Davos is hardcore shipping Jon and Dany on “Game of Thrones,” and yes, this is a little weird

This post contains spoilers about Game of Thrones Season 7, Episode 4, “The Spoils of War,” and it was??? so if you haven’t seen it yet, go over to HBO this second and see for yourself!

Last week on Game of Thrones, Jon Snow and Daenerys Targaryen met for the first time and it was a *little* chilly. She was mad he wouldn’t bend the knee, he was frustrated that she didn’t believe the White Walkers are coming, and we were devastated because we want this alliance SO BADLY. But by the episode’s end — after conversations with their trusted advisors — the two began to warm up to each other, and Dany allowed Jon to mine for dragonglass.

Well, apparently things are *really* starting to thaw because there was some serious sexual tension between Jon and Dany in the cave during “The Spoils of War” (Jon does like taking attractive women into caves…). It turns out we weren’t the only ones who noticed.

Ser Davos Seaworth, advisor to Jon Snow, grammar warden, and underrated GoT icon, is HERE for Jonerys (official shipper name of Jon + Dany) and it’s the most hilarious and weird thing ever.

After the glorious cave scene in which Jon and Dany nearly solidified their alliance, Jon and Davos chatted about the Queen, and Jon — who is famously not great with women and even less subtle about his feelings — tried to tell Davos that he thought Dany had a good heart. Naturally, Davos was not here for Jon’s nonsense.

Honestly, though, it’s both the weirdest and most adorable thing. Since Sam left for the Citadel and Ned is long dead, Davos has become Jon’s de facto BFF and father figure while serving as his most trusted advisor. But Davos is a man of few words and mostly gives impassioned speeches or tells Jon what he really needs to hear, so we don’t get to see him be his charming self — like he was with Shireen Baratheon — very often. But while we love Davos ribbing Jon about his obvious attraction to Dany, seeing a character actively root for the potential relationship between two relatives is just SO weird, even though he doesn’t know they’re related.

Jonerys is a touchy subject for fans because Dany and Jon are actually related (because, you know, R+L=J), which makes their very obvious chemistry pretty conflicting. But obviously, other than Bran, who saw the events at the Tower of Joy in a vision, none of the characters on the series know that Jon is anything other than Ned Stark’s bastard.

But now that Davos has actually called out the chemistry between Jon and Dany, we’re a little curious to see if they’re actually going to fall in love or if someone (Bran) will reveal their true relation before things get too intense. Regardless, we’re living for Davos living his best life in Dragonstone and can’t wait to see him continue to (try and) charm Missandei (and us, tbh).
