Catelyn Stark’s ghost might have appeared in this creepy “Game of Thrones” scene

If there’s one Game of Thrones scene people are talking about that *isn’t* the amazing loot train attack, it was the incredible sparring match between Brienne and Arya.

During Sunday’s episode of Game of Thrones, “The Spoils of War,” two of our favorite badass warriors — Brienne of Tarth and Arya Stark — met for the second time, this time as known allies. As the two sparred in the courtyard of Winterfell, we got to see how powerful of a fighter Arya had become since leaving her home back in Season 1. But that’s not the only thing of note.

As Arya reminds Brienne that she had promised her mother, Catelyn Stark, to protect both Arya and Sansa, someone can be seen walking in the background, as pointed out by Redditor GrennsGal.

Now, we *know* that it’s really late in the game to be introducing Lady Stoneheart into the series, but we have to point out that the figure crossing the courtyard seriously resembles Catelyn. We know from the books that Lady Stoneheart’s storyline is intertwined with Brienne and Podrick — as Brienne had sworn to find and protect Catelyn’s daughters before she was tragically killed at the Red Wedding, and Podrick has been with Brienne on that journey. So it’s pretty fitting that both Brienne and Pod are shown in the scene as a Lady Stoneheart look-alike lurks in the background.

Maybe we’re just sentimental, as for the first time in forever three Starks are back at their rightful home of Winterfell, even if severely changed by the events of the six previous seasons.

Plus, with Littlefinger gifting the Valyrian dagger back to Bran, Catelyn’s memory was certainly honored in the episode.

Whether it was an ode to a character we’ll (probably) never see in Game of Thrones again, or just a nod to the Stark women leading Winterfell, we’ll probably never know. But we certainly hope we haven’t seen the last of the mysterious cloaked figure.
