We can’t get over this ‘Game of Thrones’ audition reel
The cast of Game of Thrones took Comic-Con by storm on Friday afternoon. Not only was a good chunk of the cast in attendance, but they also brought along some amazing goodies for fans in the audience.
OK, not like, actual Game of Thrones party favors or anything, but goodies we can watch with our eyes again and again. One video they showed to the audience — that has now made its way online so we can enjoy it, too — is marvelous: an audition reel for many residents of Westeros.
No, it’s not insider intel on the fate of Jon Snow, but we gladly accept Natalie Dormer’s killer audition for Margaery. The video also includes Gwendoline Christie (Brienne), Rose Leslie (Ygritte), Pedro Pascal (Oberyn Martell), Liam Cunningham (Davos), Michiel Huisman (Daario), and Carice van Houten (Melisandre). The best part of this video is actually that their audition tapes are spliced together with actual scenes from the show — so it cuts between raw footage, and then real footage we saw on TV. We’re watching the exact moment the nice people behind Game of Thrones realized they had found the perfect actor for the role.
It’s also amazing seeing these actors before they were huge Game of Thrones stars. Do you think any of them realized what kind of crazy world they were getting themselves into? Oh, and then how we would cry real tears for them when they died on the show? (Looking at you, Ygritte.)
