Arya finally gets sweet, sweet revenge during the “Game of Thrones” season premiere
If you haven’t seen the season premiere of Game of Thrones, this is where we must part because MAJOR spoilers lie ahead.
It’s safe to say that last night’s episode, “Dragonstone,” was one of the most cathartic in GoT history. When we last left her in the Season 6 finale, Arya Stark was back in Westeros to fulfill her pledge to kill the people who’ve wronged her family, beginning in the Riverlands with Red Wedding villain Walder Frey. But it appears that Arya wasn’t *quite* finished with House Frey.
In a rare cold open, Arya served up some serious revenge on ALL the Frey men — while wearing the face of Walder.
Now?that’s?how?you?start?off?a?killer?season?!!!
Much to our surprise, the episode begins with Walder addressing his kin with his usual gruff, misogynistic antics. Didn’t Arya just straight-up revenge kill him? Anyway, Old Walder announces that he’s round up every important Frey man to talk game plans, now that they rule the Riverlands and such. PLUS they’ve all earned an extra feast because they killed the Starks at the Red Wedding, right? *CHEERS*
This is where things take *quite* the turn. As Arya-as-Walder recounts the deaths of her pregnant sister-in-law Talisa and mother Catelyn, the Frey men begin to choke as it turns out Arya poisoned their wine.
"Leave one wolf alive and the sheep are never safe."
But Arya, being one of the biggest badasses to ever grace our screens, doesn’t just get ONE killer line. No, after she reveals herself to the terrified Frey women she says the line we’ve been waiting for for THREE seasons: “When people ask you what happened here, tell them the North remembers. Tell them Winter came for house Frey.”
And just like that, she leaves
Look how she survey’s her work like the ruthless assassin she’s become before going to hang out with Ed Sheeran like it’s NBD!
And this is just the first FIVE minutes of the season premiere. We have just more six episodes to see just how much of her kill list Arya will get to this season. Up next: The Queen, Cersei Lannister.
