So there’s apparently a game called “poop the potato” and you should all play it immediately

So a game called “Poop the Potato” has apparently been around for years, but we’re only just now hearing about it.

This weekend, a video hit the internet of some old folks running to buckets with potatoes between their legs, and the thing has gone wildly viral. As of this writing, the video has over 40 million views and 700,000 shares. Watch it and you’ll understand why.

A woman named Barbara Dalton from Bloomfield, Missouri shared the clip to Facebook of her friends playing a relay game at a holiday party. Participants divvied into teams place a potato between their thighs and then deposit the starchy lump into a bucket. We’re assuming that the team with the most potatoes in the bucket at the end of the timed session wins.

“We’re tired of Spin the Bottle and have moved on to Poop the Potato,” Dalton wrote on her Facebook post on December 17. She discovered the game when searching the internet for new ideas.

“The further you squat down, the funnier it is, Dalton told the Kansas City Star.

Dalton is a retired physical education teacher, so we get why she thought this game was a good idea. Physical activity plus uncontrollable laughter equals many calories burned.

Want to play yourself? The requirements are incredibly few.

Some buckets. Some potatoes. Some slightly inebriated willing partygoers.

Actually, the more anti-social and awkward the people in your crowd, the better, we think.

Oh, and make sure you have a recording device handy.
