Surprise! Gabrielle Union welcomed a daughter with husband Dwyane Wade
She caught us by surprise—Gabrielle Union just welcomed a new baby girl into her family. The actress and her husband, Miami Heat player Dwyane Wade, announced on social media today, November 8th, that they’d welcomed a baby girl via surrogate. Their little one arrived November 7th, and the pair called her a “miracle baby.”
Both parents shared a series of three hospital photos with their new bundle of joy and lyrics from the Bill Withers’ song “Lovely Day” in their captions on Instagram:
“When I wake up in the mornin’ love
And the sunlight hurts my eyes
And there’s something without warning, love
Bears heavy on my mind
Then I look at you
And the world’s alright with me
Just one look at you
And I know its gonna be
A lovely day
A lovely day.”
Union, 46, has been open about her struggles with infertility. In her memoir, We’re Going to Need More Wine, she revealed that she’d underdone multiple unsuccessful rounds of IVF.
"I have had eight or nine miscarriages," she wrote. "For three years, my body has been a prisoner of trying to get pregnant—I’ve either been about to go into an IVF cycle, in the middle of an IVF cycle, or coming out of an IVF cycle."
On Sunday, November 11th, Union blessed us with another picture—this time of her husband cradling their new bundle of joy.
This is Union’s first child and fourth for Wade, who has sons Xavier Zechariah Wade, Zaire Blessing Dwyane Wade, and Zion Malachi Airamis Wade. Union and Wade also care for Wade’s nephew, Dahveon Morris. Congratulations to the beautiful family.
