All the YES to Gabourey Sidibe’s new book
We’ve got some awesome book news, Gigglers! Actress Gabourey Sidibe, who made her name in Precious, played everyone’s favorite witch in American Horror Story: Coven and now stars on Empire, is writing a book! Houghton Mifflin Harcourt, the publisher behind the memoir, made the announcement yesterday and we are so excited!
Although the book doesn’t have a title yet, it will explore the many facets of Sidibe’s life. “Moving from Bed-Stuy to Senegal to Cannes, as Gabby has done in a still-short lifetime, has helped produce a fierce, wise way of being in the world impossible not to admire. ‘Funny’ doesn’t begin to capture just how irreverent and complex Gabby’s stories are,” Deanne Urmy, Senior Executive Editor at HMH said of the book.
If the book is anything like her pitch-perfect Twitter responses, we’re in business.
Sidibe, of course, brought the perfect dash of humor to her statement in the press release:
“I’ve been writing since I was a child, and have always had so many stories to tell that are too long, shady, and impolite to share in interviews. It brings me much joy to add Published Writer to my resume of Actor and part-time Foot Model.”
Gabourey is so funny, so smart, and so incredible,and we cannot wait to read this book! Look for the memoir on bookshelves in 2017 (so far away!), and until then let Sidibe’s words of wisdom on Twitter hold you over!
