We live in a world where our most private information can be accessed by anyone if we aren’t careful. That’s why it’s important to create online passwords that no one will ever be able to guess. To help keep you safe, SplashData has released a list of the 25 worst passwords you should never use, because your dog’s name probably won’t keep you protected from digital breaches.
Even though your dog’s name is an easy password for you to remember — it’s not the safest.
But let’s be real, remembering passwords is a daily struggle we’re all plagued with.
SplashData, a password management provider, put together the list of terrible passwords based on more than five million passwords leaked over the past year. The leaked passwords mostly came from the U.S. and Western Europe.
The consecutive numbers “123456″ ranked as the number one easiest password to guess, and subsequently the most breachable. Other variations of those numbers were also used by a large number of people, as well as the word “password.”
If you thought you were being sneaky by using the word “passw0rd” with a zero as your password, think again. That’s number 18 on the list.
