Josh Hutcherson saves the world with his mad video game skills in the first “Future Man” trailer

Hulu just dropped the first *official* trailer for its upcoming sci-fi comedy series Future Man, and, in a word, it’s bananas — B-A-NA-NAS.

Per the streaming service, Future Man tells the story of “a janitor by day/world-ranked gamer by night [who] is tasked with preventing the extinction of humanity after mysterious visitors from the future proclaim him the key to defeating the imminent super-race invasion.”

The Future Man trailer shows how that janitor/gamer Josh (played by Josh Hutcherson) assumes the responsibility of, you know, saving the world.

Not to mention, the show — which also stars Eliza Coupe and Derek Wilson — offers a little insight into Josh’s mission, which is to stop a doctor from curing herpes because that somehow leads to the end of the world.

We’re not sure we’ve ever heard of something weirder? Okay, maybe that’s an exaggeration, but you get the idea. And somehow, despite it being centered around STDs, we’re kind of… super into this trailer?

Check it out below and see the incredibly charming Josh Hutcherson in action.

He, uh, might have something to do with Future Man‘s appeal.

We’re all about prestige dramas and groundbreaking series from cable and streaming channels — there’s a lot going on in the television zeitgeist lately. But there’s definitely something to be said for a show that just looks like a good time, you know?

And since it’s executive produced by Seth Rogen (and produced by Hutcherson!), we’re pretty sure we can count on it delivering a whole lotta laughs.

Future Man arrives on Hulu on November 14th, so mark your calendars accordingly!
