These pictures of ridiculously funny ladies just made our Monday

Photographer Seth Olenick might just love comedy as much as we do. For over seven years, he’s taken portraits of some of the funniest people in entertainment doing ridiculously funny things. And more recently, he took all those pictures and bound them into one big, beautiful book, Funny Business, featuring everyone from Aubrey Plaza and Jon Hamm, to Garfunkel and Oates, and Charlene Yi.

“I have always been a huge fan of comedy, and loved the idea of compiling a series of big names and up-and-comers in one book where people could discover the people who have made me laugh over the years,” Olenick, a photographer and former photo editor, told Hello Giggles. “Discovering comics is very much a word of mouth thing — I hope my book can help with that discovery and be part of the dialogue.”

Olenick, who self-published the book thanks to a cool Kickstarter campaign, was kind enough to give us a preview of some of the hilarious ladies in his book — posing in awkward situations, and providing their own hilarious commentary on their shoots. Some of these women you’ll totally recognize, others you might just want to Google search and instantly fall in love with. That’s kind of the idea.

“I’m a lot of things. I’m a mother, a wife, a daughter, a sister, a comedienne, a writer and most importantly, a dancer. But what a lot of people don’t know about me is that I’m terrific with my hands. On any given day I might be found tinkering in my shop out back, building birdhouses or putting together a car from scratch. I guess you could say I’m a “Jill of all trades”. Right now I’m putting together a ’52 T-bird with fuel injection cut off and a steering wheel and everything! It’s gonna be pretty bad-ass. That’s kind of my M.O. I’m a bad-ass chick with a penchant for building birdhouses. And dancing. Did I mention that I’m a terrific dancer? Well I am. My name is Kerri and I’m a TERRIFIC dancer. There. I said it.” —Kerri Kenney Silver

“You gotta draw the line somewhere.” —Lake Bell

“After finishing first at the IIG (International Inflatable Games) Marguerite Moreau atop ‘Puffington Host’ takes not one, but six victory laps. Other notable finishes: 2nd Place-tie: ‘Thar She Blows’ and ‘Hot Air Baboon.’ ‘The Wizard of O2’ went flat on the track after a crash with ‘Lung Dancer’ and will have to be blown back to life. Our thoughts are with him.” —Marguerite Moreau

“Whimsy, or how I got bird flu.” —Maria Thayer

“Sometimes life is hard to bear and you lose your head. But sometimes you just gotta hit paws, sit down, and take a deep breath. You have a mouth — that allows you to smile and frown — And life is great because of it’s ups and downs. You’re not going to live fur-ever, so use that smile and/or frown to breathe.” —Charlene Yi

“A fancy dress and a toilet bowl says so much to me about the irony of celebrity: that no matter how famous or fancy you get, you still crap like everybody else. When we shot this, I was thinking about how right before leaving the house for a red carpet event, I get so nervous that my stomach knots up which inevitably leads to a last-minute stint on the john. I’ve stopped eating solid foods on those days.” —Elizabeth Banks

“Every cook knows that a good pot pie begins with literacy.” —Erin Hayes

“Standing still, while being pruned, always proved to be a problem for Yvette.” —Yvette Nicole Brown
