*This* is the outfit Charli XCX wears to the studio when she wants to record a hit
Write or record a bad song, Charli XCX does not. The 24-year-old is responsible for some of the buzziest tunes out there, like her smash hit “Boom Clap.” Then, there are her excellent forays into writing popular melodies for other artists, including Iggy Azalea’s Grammy-winning “Fancy.” Considering her slew of successes, Charli clearly has her successful writing-slash-recording routine down pat. But when she really, ~really~ wants to record a hit, there’s one thing Charli’s got to do: wear her lucky outfit to the studio.
“I feel like I write a better song when I put an outfit together,” she told WWD. “When you cut a vocal in the studio, you have to cut the vocal as if you’re on stage because it’s the thing people are going to listen to the most, so I have to feel good and feel in my zone.”
So what is said outfit, you ask? It may (or may not) surprise you!
"I always wear baggy hoodies with heels, so I can feel a bit bossy."
Okay, Charli — we can dig this!
If you’re familiar with the British musician’s style at all, then you already know the pop star is no fan of boring fashion. She’s always got our heads turning with bold pops of color and funky getups, and it’s honestly another reason we adore her.
Because with Charli, you never know if you’re going to get full-on bombshell or bikini body T-shirt.
To know Charli’s wacky style is to love it, though. Because whether it’s totally ~insane~ or not, it’s always fun.
“I’ve always loved Vivienne Westwood,” she also told WWD of her favorite designer. “She’s British and she’s punk. She makes clothes that fit my body so well. I love Stella McCartney and Moschino too.”
Clearly, the artist’s love of cutting-edge fashion is just a reflection of her equally cutting-edge talents.
