Alright people, we have a full trailer for ‘Pride and Prejudice and Zombies’
Jane Austen plus ZOMBIES. Can life really get better? That’s what we were asking ourselves when we first heard that Seth Grahame-Smith’s best-selling mash-up novel, Pride and Prejudice and Zombies, was going to be adapted to film. . . because really, is there anything better than an ass-kicking Elizabeth Bennett taking down all the flesh-eating undead? With Lily James of Downton Abbey playing Miss Bennett, we’d give a resounding no, it cannot get better.
The very first trailer was released during New York Comic-Con this month, which revealed to us that Mr. Darcy will be played by Sam Darcy (who played Joy Division singer Ian Curtis in Control, BTW). As if that’s not enough, Dr. Who‘s Matt Smith will be playing Mr. Collins, while Suki Waterhouse will be playing the youngest Bennett sister, Kitty, and even Lena Headey from Game of Thrones will be making a badass appearance. However, that trailer was only one minute long, and now, we’ve been gifted a full two-and-a-half minute trailer that has made us fall deeper in love with this rad mash-up.
As it turns out, falling in deep, Jane-Austen-worthy love is kinda, sorta a little more challenging when it’s happening in a post-apocalyptic zombie wasteland that’s the result of a mysterious plague. . . but it also gives us a taste of just how gutsy Elizabeth Bennett would be were there zombies afoot. After all, the newest trailer does depict Mr. Darcy telling Elizabeth that a woman must have knowledge of the art of war, while Elizabeth tells him that the perfect man wouldn’t make her give up kicking zombie ass.
“It’s pretty great to be in a film where the five Bennet sisters are sort of the strongest characters in it and are completely able to take care of themselves,” Lily James told Entertainment Weekly. “Really, none of them needs a man.”
YAAAS. Check out the full trailer below and get super pumped for when Pride and Prejudice and Zombies hits theaters on February 5th of next year.
