Aunt Becky officially gave ‘Full House’ fans the news we’ve been waiting for
Grab Mr. Bear and hold him tight, because this news is going to hurt. After months — seriously, MONTHS — of back and forth speculation, we’ve got a definitive answer as to whether or not Michelle Tanner will make an appearance on Fuller House. We already want to cut this answer out: It’s a no.
The first season of Netflix’s Full House reboot, Fuller House, just wrapped production, and that means it’s quickly coming our way. However, it will be one Tanner daughter short, as Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen never stopped by the set for any sort of shooting, whether it be a quick cameo, or a pop-in, or to walk Comet around the block.
Aunt Becky herself, Lori Loughlin, broke the news to the world in an interview with The Huffington Post. Talking about the new season, she mentioned that the season “wrapped and they didn’t come in.” This is undoubtedly a huge bummer, but it’s not completely unexpected.
In case you need a quick recap of the Fuller House Olsen Twins Drama, it goes like this: The reboot of the show was announced, and the Olsens claimed they hadn’t heard about it. Uncle Jesse, AKA John Stamos, called them out on that, and they worked through it and are on fine terms again. Everyone at Fuller House kept a seat at the Tanner table open, in case the two should stop in for a cameo. Stephanie, AKA Jodie Sweetin, commented that even without the twins in the show, “The Michelle character is still going to have a presence.” The front door remained wide open for them to return, if they wanted to.
That brings us here to today, where now we know for sure the actual answer. This doesn’t mean that they won’t ever stop by; if Netflix renews the show for more seasons, that gives everyone plenty of episodes for the girls to drop in. Loughlin herself isn’t too optimistic about that, also mentioning that since they didn’t make a cameo this season, they might not in the future.
We, though, are going to continue to look on the bright side of things. Let’s not forget that Fuller House is still happening, and all our other favorites are returning. With or without Michelle, we’re still binging this thing.
