The New ‘Frozen’ Short Film Can Not Happen Fast Enough
It’s not a myth: the Frozen follow-up is HAPPENING! The characters from Disney’s game-changing movie are coming back together for an animated short, due out next spring and we are doubling over with happy feelings.
The appropriately titled Frozen Fever (we all have it) will center around Elsa and Kristoff planning Anna’s birthday celebration, until Elsa’s ice powers threaten to ruin the fun. (It ain’t a party until Elsa freezes everything, right?)
While not quite a sequel, the short will be screened as an opener for a feature-length Disney film. The studio isn’t saying which lucky film it’s going to open for (slash sell out), but Entertainment Weekly is betting on the live-action Cinderella movie starring Cate Blanchett, due in theaters March 13.
What else do we know? Not much, except that Frozen Fever will feature a NEW ORIGINAL SONG. We’re not saying we’ll ever tire of “Let it Go,” but we wouldn’t mind a mind-blowing, super-inspiring follow-up.
Jennifer Lee and Chris Buck will return to direct the short, but no word yet on whether Kristen Bell and Idina Menzel (the O.G. Anna and Elsa) will reprise their roles. We have gotten word that Olaf the Snowman will make an appearance, so at least there’s that.
If 2015 seems too far away for your next Frozen fix, let us remind you that Elsa, Anna, and co. will be making live action appearances on the new season of ABC’s Once Upon A Time this fall. That should hold you over, at least for a little while.
