‘Frozen 2’ is officially a thing that is happening in real life!
Okay, we know, Frozen fatigue — but let’s temporarily let it go (sorry) because Disney has officially announced plans for Frozen 2!
In their annual shareholders’ meeting earlier today, Walt Disney Co. confirmed a sequel to the animated blockbuster is happening — and already in the works. We don’t have a ton of details yet, but we do know the film is in development with Jennifer Lee and Chris Buck, co-directors of the first film, and Peter Del Vecho, producer at Walt Disney Animation Studios (. . . aka the three people who took home the Oscar for Best Animated Feature Film for Frozen, NBD). No news yet on a release date or when production for the sequel will start, but the film is sure to be amazing (and filled with ridiculously catchy music), and we can’t wait to see what our favorite Frozen friends get up to back in Arendelle.
The announcement, of course, comes after a year of exciting news related to the film, including a Frozen ride at Disney World’s Epcot slated for early 2016, a Broadway show, and Frozen Fever, the Frozen-inspired short set to premiere before Disney’s live-action adaptation of Cinderella (out tomorrow!).
“We enjoyed making ‘Frozen Fever’ so much and being back in that world with those characters,” said John Lasseter, chief creative officer of Walt Disney and Pixar Animation Studios, according to Variety.
“Jennifer Lee and Chris Buck have come up with a great idea for a sequel and you will be hearing a lot more about it and we’re taking you back to Arendelle,” he continued. “We are so excited about that.”
So obviously, there will be more Frozen 2 details to come. Bring it. Who said anything about fatigue?
