“The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air” cast reunited, so let’s all do the Carlton dance
And now for our daily revisiting of the ’90s: The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air cast reunited recently, as we saw in an Instagram post shared by Alfonso Ribeiro, aka the Tom Jones-obsessed Carlton Banks. This marks the second time in two weeks that a photo of Will Smith has Fresh Prince fans totally freaking out (and yes, that includes us).
At first glance, the snapshot of Smith, Ribeiro, Tatyana Ali, Karyn Parsons, Daphne Maxwell Reid and Joseph Marcell seemed like a dream we had involving a long-lost episode in which the cast came together for a Fresh Prince reboot. But then we remembered that was just a dead-end rumor from 2015 that Smith totally shot down.
But it’s okay, though! We still have the memories and repeats to gleefully look back upon (no thanks to Netflix, which still has yet to make The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air available for streaming in the US, but whatevs). Anyway, here to top off that mushy, nostalgic feeling is this photo of the cast mates, minus the late James Avery (aka Uncle Phil), who passed in 2014.
"Always amazing to spend an afternoon with my Fresh Prince family," Ribeiro captioned the photo. "Wishing that James Avery was still with us to make this complete."
SIGHS. While fans will always have a special place in their hearts for Avery and his excellent portrayal of the no-nonsense Uncle Phil, it feels good to see the rest of the cast hanging together and looking so happy. Obviously, this cheery moment calls for the Carlton dance.
This may not be the televised Fresh Prince reunion that we all looked forward to, but we’ll take it!
