You Can Now Watch ‘Stranger Things’ and More for Free on Netflix

You don't need a Netflix subscription.

Well, at least something nice is coming out of 2020. Netflix announced it will release a variety of its titles to non-subscribers, which will be totally free to watch—with a slight catch.

The streaming giant has been testing this marketing model on select users throughout the year, offering a small selection of Netflix original movies and television shows to non-subscribers around the world. Now, Netflix will broaden this model for the global market and add more titles to its free library.

As of right now, Stranger Things, Murder Mystery, Elite, Bird Box, When They See Us, The Two Popes, Grace and Frankie, and Our Planet are available for free across 200 nations.

Prior to this wider launch, To All The Boys I’ve Loved Before was offered for free for a limited time.

However, although movies are available to watch through for free (with a 30-second ad roll that runs before the film starts), only the first episode of a television show is available to watch without a subscription. To view the available seasons on Netflix, you have to sign up for an account.

You can watch these free titles by simply accessing Netflix through a web browser, and Android users can access them through their phone browser. The free titles are not yet available for those attempting to access through an iOS browser, though.

Giving out free content is just a test to see if spreading the wealth of Netflix for free will pay off in the long run. But, if you haven’t caved to Netflix yet, but have been dying to see The Two Popes or When The See Us, now is the time to do so.
