Fox is resurrecting early ’00s favorites “24” and “Prison Break”

The early 2000’s were an amazing time for television — and now, Fox is trying to bring back the glory days: At the TCA’s on Friday, the network announced plans to revive 24 and Prison Break later in 2016.

According to Vulture, Fox has ordered a pilot for 24: Legacy, a show that will star “a new generation of agents at the Counter Terrorism Unit” and focus on “a military hero’s return to the U.S. and the trouble that follows him back.” Similar to its predecessor, the episodes will happen in real-time, and feature themes relevant to current events today. While the series hasn’t been cast yet, Fox hinted that if it goes to series, characters from the original 24 might make some surprise appearances. (Fingers crossed!)

Meanwhile, Prison Break will be staying closer to the original series, including stars Wentworth Miller and Dominic Purcell returning as Michael Scofield and Lincoln Burrows. (It’s safe to say we have some questions.) The reboot/”event series” was pitched to Fox by Miller himself, along with the show’s creator, Paul Scheuring; and will have a ten-episode run. Even more heartening, Vulture reports that “much of the original producing team will return as well” — which means the show will probably stay true to the Prison Break we loved so much in 2005.
