Introducing the fourth Powerpuff Girl: Bliss!

Remember how earlier this month Cartoon Network announced there would be a fourth Powerpuff Girl added to the television show? We were equal parts nervous and excited to see who would be added to the trio we love so much. No one kicks butt quite like the Powerpuff Girls, and we were waiting and waiting for the day we’d find out who the fourth sister is. Thankfully, that day has arrived.

Say hello to the newest sister of Blossom, Bubbles, and Buttercup: Bliss. Bliss turns our beloved trio into a quartet, and we couldn’t be more into this.

Voiced by South African singer Toya Delazy, Bliss is the first black Powerpuff Girl — and finally!

This is an inclusive step, proving that the power of sugar, spice, and everything nice isn’t defined by skin color but by spirit. While many were disappointed that the new Powerpuff Girl isn’t Bunny, the fourth sister who made an appearance in the episode Twisted Sister, we can’t deny that we’re pretty in love with the addition of Bliss.

The most shocking part is that Bliss is actually the oldest of the sisters, which means she’s the original Powerpuff Girl.

With her ice-blue hair, violet outfit, and matching headband, Bliss fits right into the group. And we’re not the only ones who think so. The internet loves the new addition to the trio as much as we do.

Many have pointed out how historic it is for a black character to be introduced to the show. It’s a big step, and we hope many shows will follow, in the world of cartoons and beyond.

We’re counting down the days until we get to meet Bliss, and we can’t wait to see how she saves the day with her sisters in the future.
