A Guide to the Best Fast Food Franchises on Twitter
The cult of Starbucks’ Pumpkin Spice Latte has reached new heights. The beloved seasonal coffee now has its own official Twitter account (@TheRealPSL) and a challenge for the truly obsessed. Through an online scavenger hunt, ending August 26th, winners can bring the latte to their local chain store a week earlier than the latte’s official release, September 2nd. Not only is the PSL campaign clever from a marketing perspective, the actual tweets suggest there’s someone funny on the other end of the account—there are plenty of snappy comments and pictures that go way beyond the clunky big business attempts to engage readers through social media. Obviously, something is happening. Food franchises are starting to wise up about Twitter in a major way. Here, a few chain restaurants that may be worth checking out, and—dare we say it—even following.
The In & Out of the East Coast is really great at responding to their followers. Not to mention their mouth-watering Instagram account. Recently the burger brand caused controversy by discontinuing their classic crinkle fries and replacing them with basic shoe-string fries. And havoc ensued.
Okay, yes that’s me, but they immediately addressed my concern sending me a video explanation of why they changed fries and then ultimately changed back to the classic crinkles. (I’m sure I wasn’t the only one, but it’s nice to see companies listening to their consumers.)
They’re also smart with the retweets. Here’s what they shared today:
2. YOGURTLAND
Yogurtland gets it. This froyo franchise is great at making the consumer crave their product, thanks to their picture perfect Instagrams. They’re also very responsive to customers. See how they explained to me that Heath Bar toppings are available at select locations? Won me over.
With the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles as their cover photo, how can you go wrong? The brand mainly posts pizza pictures (obviously) with funny captions like “oh buddy,” or “mmm pizza,” which is exactly what I would expect Pizza Hut to tweet. And if you’re the kind of person who needs to know what’s coming down the fast food pipeline, this account offers plenty of updates. Today’s tweet suggested some bacon innovations in the near future. . .
With cute Vine comedy videos, and creative ideas for using hot sauce packets, this Twitter account is actually quite entertaining. They’ve even interacted with other brands, altering the space-time continuum.
