FLOTUS’ marigold SOTU dress made the Internet go crazy
Some people watched the President’s State of the Union address to hear…well, about the state of the union, and some watched it to see what Michelle Obama would wear. And for her final appearance at a presidential SOTU, the First Lady did not disappoint.
Last night, Mrs. Obama stepped out in what most are calling a “marigold” sheath dress (though there have been claims that it is mustard, tangerine, and every other color on the orange-yellow color spectrum).
Wherever you stand on the dress’ color, it certainly caused a sartorial stir on social media.
It wasn’t long before one sharp pair of eyes determined the origins of the dress: According to Independent Journal White House correspondent Kate Bennett, the dress was fashioned by American designer Narciso Rodriguez—and just so happened to be on sale at Neiman Marcus.
According to Fashionista.com, Mrs. Obama’s decision to wear the dress seems to be a subtle nod to President Obama’s first SOTU, where Mrs. Obama opted to wear another Rodriguez number, though that dress was unmistakably purple.
At the end of the day, no matter what she wears, the woman looks good. We’re really going to miss her when she leaves the White House (though there’s no doubt she’ll still be in the spotlight).
