A student at the Florida high school told Trump she doesn’t want his “prayers” — she wants gun control
The country is still reeling from news of the Florida shooting that claimed the lives of 17 innocent people at a Parkland high school. Following the tragedy on Wednesday, February 14th, Donald Trump offered his “prayers and condolences” to families of the victims, adding that “no child, teacher or anyone else should ever feel unsafe in an American school.” However, one survivor called the president out for his “prayers,” calling him a “fucking piece of shit” on Twitter.
The Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School student, named Sarah, urged Trump to “do something instead of sending prayers.

Her tweet has since gone viral and as of right now, it has 156,000 retweets in less than 24 hours — clearly indicating that it’s resonated with many people.
Sarah has since been retweeting messages from fellow students who were also in the building at the time of the shooting.
I was hiding in a closet for 2 hours. It was about guns. You weren't there, you don't know how it felt. Guns give these disgusting people the ability to kill other human beings. This IS about guns and this is about all the people who had their life abruptly ended because of guns. https://t.co/XnzhvuN1zd

Today I woke up excited to go to school in my cute dress and celebrate Valentine’s Day with my friends. Today I came home nearly terrified and worried about the people I care about the most. Nobody should have to go through that.

I cannot stop hearing the sound of the gun as he walked down my hallway. I cannot unsee my classmates who were shot get carried out by police. I cannot unsee the bodies on the floor. Please keep in mind the horror of what we’ve gone through today. #prayfordouglas

The gunman, 19-year-old Nikolas Cruz, has been caught and charged with 17 counts of premeditated murder. It was reported that he was a former student who had been expelled. Details of the shooting are still emerging; however, it is believed that Cruz set off the fire alarm so students would leave their classrooms and become vulnerable to his attack.
As of now, we don’t know much about Cruz other than that a few of his social media accounts contained some very disturbing content — much of which involved guns.
However, the real question — which Sarah addressed in her tweet — is why Cruz was allowed to legally purchase a AR-15-style rifle in the first place? This needs to stop now.
