Florence + the Machine covered Fleetwood Mac, and it’s actual perfection

We’re sure Florence Welch would be the first person to admit that she’s been heavily influenced by Stevie Nicks and her witchy woman vibe, so the news that Florence + the Machine covered Fleetwood Mac’s “Silver Springs” over the weekend? Um, that literally sounds like perfection, and it totally is. Nicks herself would approve.

Welch and co. debuted their cover for the War Child benefit concert last Friday, but this isn’t their first time covering Fleetwood Mac; as Vulture points out, that honor goes to “The Chain.” (The band really likes covering iconic songs.) Welch’s voice, which is probably capable of unleashing hurricanes, is at turns tender and turbulent here, and does justice to Nicks’s original take while adding some of her own flair.

The first ever Fleetwood Mac Fest recently took place in Los Angeles, and while we loved none other than Courtney Love’s rendition of “Silver Springs,” we hope that next year’s fest brings Florence into the fold. Or, better yet, if/when Fleetwood Mac tour next, we can think of the perfect opener for the band. (It’s Florence.)
