The ‘Flight of the Conchords’ guys answer our prayers for more ‘Flight of the Conchords’
Today’s great TV news comes straight from New Zealand: Flight of the Conchords is planning on touring the US this summer. While they might not be returning to television, this is still amazing news because for the last few years our lives have been horribly devoid of the self titled, “fourth most popular guitar-based digi-bongo acapella-rap-funk-comedy folk duo” from New Zealand.
Flight of the Conchords, made up of Bret McKenzie and Jemaine Clement, had an amazing show (of the same name) on HBO for two seasons. It followed their musical misadventures as they tried to gain a fan base in the United States. It was kind of like, the singing from Portlandia, combined with a little bit of Weird Al’s parody, but then they would break into song like on Glee, plus mixed with two guys from where the Lord of the Rings movies were shot. Basically, it was amazing. So of course, you know, it was canceled.
The duo toured once before in 2013, but since then there hasn’t been much on the Flight of the Concords front. But Clement, who happens to be at Sundance right now, mentioned to Billboard that he and McKenzie “are planning on touring later on in the year in the States. It isn’t very solid yet, but we’ve been talking about it.” The tour will include brand new material, which will also serve as a way for them to record new this new music, because Clement doesn’t “like the studio part of music. I more enjoy playing live and letting others take care of the recording.” Hey, that’s fine by us.
While we patiently wait for the actual tour details to come our way, take a quick second to remember why you miss these guys SO MUCH. Their music was catchy, hilarious, and so well done. Sorry for getting “Business Time” stuck in your head all day.
Wait there’s more. . .

And here’s a song as they jog through the park, because of course:
