Flashback Friday: Miley Cyrus’ ‘Hannah Montana’ audition tape is so adorable

Way before Miley Cyrus started riding around on wrecking balls, she was simply trying to live the best of both worlds. So, in honor of Flashback Friday, let’s go back, waaaay back, to 2004 when Miley was just a 12-year-old girl auditioning for Disney Channel’s Hannah Montana. Sweet nibblets, this is adorable.

The video starts off with her auditioning for the role of “Zoe” (maybe the character who would eventually become Miley’s BFF, Lilly? Maybe an earlier name for the “Miley” character?) before she moves into auditioning for the actual role of Miley Stewart — regular girl by day, pop princess by night, fabulous and fashionable 24/7.

Her real life dad, Billy Ray Cyrus, shows up in the audition, too, his guitar in hand. I’d be willing to bet that what sealed the deal for this duo is the adorable father/daughter handshake they break-out, before launching into song. Everyone watching the audition literally can’t handle it, and you can hear them laughing off-screen. We’re laughing right along with them, too.

Even without the help of dad, Miley’s hilarious in her own right. For a 12-year-old, she is completely at ease in front of these adults holding the future of Hannah Montana in their hands. We even get to see her final audition for the role, which she nails (duh!). Not to mention, she’s wearing a t-shirt that reads, “I should have my own TV show.” Ask, and you shall receive, Miley.

Check out Miley’s whole audition below. Just know that afterwards, you’re going to want to re-watch at least four or five Hannah Montana episodes.
