Flash Mob + High School Graduation + ‘Shake It Off’ = Brilliant
This senior class knows how to do graduation right. Instead of suffering through endless speeches and pep talks about their bright futures, these high school students took matters into their own hands and put on a graduation ceremony that nobody in their New Hampshire town will soon forget.
Just when it looks like Portsmouth High Valedictorian Colin Yost is going to give his speech,Taylor Swift’s ‘Shake It Off’ starts playing, his shoulders start to bob and he gets down to a sick beat of his own.
It doesn’t take long before the entire class of 2015 is on on the moves and they shake their stuff for the entire song while everyone in the auditorium is on their feet.
You have to give major props to these students. The whole routine was immaculately choreographed, and they didn’t miss a beat. Watching them celebrate together like that just makes you want to get up dance.
Captured by the local new station and dozens of cell phones, Colin told the ABC affiliate WMUR, “Oh my gosh, it was amazing. I could not have imagined it coming out any better myself.”
One of the graduates, Georgian Head, told WMUR, “We just wanted to do something that had a lot of energy and brought us all together as a class,” and it’s safe to say they did just that plus a ton more.
These seniors left a legacy at Portsmouth High School that is going to be hard to top next year, but their commitment to each other and their school is pretty moving. I’m not ashamed to admit I was smiling through my tears.
