“Fixer Upper” is ending after Season 5, so say goodbye to Chip and Jo

Sad news, HGTV devotees: Chip and Joanna Gaines will be leaving Fixer Upper after five delightful seasons. It’s always hard when you find out somebody you’ve come to adore is leaving a TV show you love — and it’s almost harder with TV personalities because you feel like you actually know them, rather than a character!

Since it started airing in 2013, Fixer Upper has become one of the highest-rated shows in HGTV’s history, which is saying something.

Chip and Jo aren’t just slipping out, however.

They penned a lovely post announcing their decision to leave the show.

"It is with both sadness and expectation that we share the news that Season 5 of Fixer Upper will be our last. While we are confident that this is the right choice for us, it has for sure not been an easy one to come to terms with. Our family has grown up alongside yours, and we have felt you rooting us on from the other side of the screen. How bittersweet to say goodbye to the very thing that introduced us all in the first place.

Chip and Jo have more irons in the fire than just their HGTV show, however. So we’re certainly not expecting them to vanish into thin air when they leave Fixer Upper.

They have a successful retail business, a real estate company, and soon, a restaurant opening in New York — not to mention, they have a book due out October 17th. Plus, Fixer Upper will return for its final season in November, with Joanna’s spinoff shortly thereafter — and much more!

We’re going to miss two of our fav television personalities, but we’re excited to see what the future holds for this truly dynamic duo!
