The first “X-Files” Season 11 trailer is here, and Mulder and Scully are searching for their son
The truth is out there…and apparently, so is the end of humanity — in the upcoming season of The X-Files, that is.
It’s the end of the world as we know it, unless Mulder (David Duchovny) and Scully (Gillian Anderson) have anything to say about it, based on the dramatic first trailer for the 11th season of The X-Files, which debuted at New York Comic-Con over the weekend.
The second season of the revival, which will return for 10 episodes in 2018, picks up right where the series left off in February, with an alien virus threatening the human race, and it looks as though time is running out for at least one of the characters we know and love.
But Mulder and Scully’s mysterious, long-lost son William might just be the key to their survival.

While last season left Mulder succumbing to the Spartan Virus, the trailer sees him looking a dapper as ever — with Scully looking worse for wear.
The trailer sees the human race crumbling from the effects of the disease while the race to implement a viable vaccine appears to be progressing slower than that of the disease. Meanwhile, Mulder and Scully are being faced with too many questions about William.
“I have to find our son,” a frantic Scully tells Mulder, referencing the miracle son given up for adoption during Season 9 of The X-Files, 15 years ago. Could the now-teenage William be the one to save his biological parents from the virus, or is he the key to something much, much bigger?
The upcoming season also sees the Cigarette Smoking Man (William B. Davis) making a deal Skinner (Mitch Pileggi) just can’t refuse, seemingly putting the assistant director of the FBI at odds with Mulder and Scully.
We’ll see exactly how pressed for time our favorite alien-investigating FBI team is when The X-Files returns in 2018.
