The first trailer for Marvel’s “Runaways” is here, and OMG November cannot come fast enough

This month needs to move quickly. Firstly, because we can’t wait for Halloween, and secondly because the new trailer for Marvel’s Runaways just came out, and its premiere date, November 21, feels too far away. That’s because Runaways looks so good based on the trailer, and the show, set to air on Hulu, has an awesome premise.

Runaways follows a group of high school friends who, after discovering that their parents are a part of a secret organization, join together to fight the battles closest to home. If you like Riverdaleyou’ll most likely love Runaways, because it will similarly capture some extremely dark forces acting against teenagers, and both comic books that the shows are based on were hugely popular in the past.

Check out the trailer now so you can start the countdown to November 21st.

Runaways the comic book originally came out in 2003 and lasted only a year, but this September the comic came back in a prelude to the new TV series.

The trailer features the five teenagers, Alex Wilder, Nico Minoru, Chase Stein, Karolina Dean, and Gertrude “Gert” Yorkes, along with 11-year-old Molly Hayes, discovering a secret passageway that one of them aptly describes as “some Narnia sh*t.”

The teens then see their parents participating in what appears to be cult-like behavior, and find out that they’re in fact part a villainous group called The Pride.

Most adolescents eventually discover things about their parents that had previously been masked by the rose-colored-glasses of youthful naiveté, but discovering that your parents are members of a criminal organization is a little extreme, and sounds like the makings of an awesome show.

The show’s creators think Runaways is going to be a major hit.

The masterminds behind Runaways are no stranger to teen drama, as they’ve both perfected the genre in the past with some of the most iconic high school shows of yore. Josh Schwartz and Stephanie Savage are behind the Hulu adaptation, and the two had previously created Gossip Girl together while Schwartz also created The O.C.

Oh yeah.

While Blair Waldorf and Marissa Cooper had their fair share of disagreements with their parents, their shows didn’t revolve around physically fighting against demonic forces. Well, maybe for Marissa it did, but the closest The O.C. ever got to being a superhero show was when Seth dressed up as Spiderman to kiss Summer.

Runaways seems like the perfect opportunity for two awesome show creators to bring us a new sort of teen drama. We are so here for it. November, please come quickly.
