The early reviews for Captain Marvel are in, and people are officially obsessed with Brie Larson as Carol Danvers
Mark yourselves as busy on March 8th, because you’re going to want to be first in line to see Captain Marvel. If the reactions to early screenings are any indication, the film is not to be missed. While Captain Marvel won’t officially hit theaters for another few weeks, the highly-anticipated movie seems to be living up to its hype. Despite trolls attempts to sabotage the film’s Rotten Tomatoes score—similar to campaigns against Black Panther and Star Wars: The Last Jedi—critics and fans who’ve actually seen the film are full of praise.
And naturally, people are raving about Brie Larson as Carol Danvers.
Iam literally ceying tears of joy and pride right now! Thank you @brielarson I knew it!! AAAA THIS IS OUR MOMENT! The reviews are just perfect #CaptainMarvel pic.twitter.com/qgxpgAu3SD

#CaptainMarvel is (takes deep 90s breath) TOTALLY AWESOME. Never related to a Marvel character quite like Carol. She’s the stubborn witty 90s kid I like to think I am. pic.twitter.com/H6Q9s90KHA

The future of the MCU gets even brighter adding #CaptainMarvel to the mix. Really fell for @brielarson’s sass, strength & energy in the role. Same with @LashanaLynch too! Ben Mendelsohn is A+ casting as Talos. And yes, Goose is a scene stealer. 2nd viewing can’t come soon enough.

Captain Marvel is a blast! Has some cool surprises that I definitely didn't see coming, and the mystery/origin it weaves is engaging and fun. Brie Larson is awesome, and makes a fantastic first step into the MCU #CaptainMarvel pic.twitter.com/oqrRtgDQrp

#CaptainMarvel is pure joy. I cannot wait for the generation of little girls who will grow up with Carol Danvers as a hero.

Captain Marvel is everything that I hoped it would be. It feels completely unlike any other Marvel film. A unique and fresh take on an origin story that feels new. Brie Larson is fantastic as Carol Danvers. This is one of my favorite Marvel movies of all time. #CaptainMarvel pic.twitter.com/0ou7HU93MY

There’s an earnestness to #CaptainMarvel that feels different than other MCU films. I got chills watching Carol Danvers get back up over & over & over again.

#CaptainMarvel is a welcome addition to the #MCU. The movie is really well done with some great moments. #benmendelsohn steals almost every scene he's in. @brielarson literally shines in the role. So ready for #AvengersEndGame pic.twitter.com/GET0socRjl

Captain Marvel is an effective Avengers prequel in some ways akin to the 1st Captain America movie. It’s pro-woman without being overdone with pre and post credit scenes that made me tear up and gave me goosebumps respectively pic.twitter.com/or2Oj7CdRV

#CaptainMarvel is a great origin story. Brie’s buddy cop chemistry with @SamuelLJackson is so much fun and her relationship with Lashana Lynch is the real heart of it. Ben Mendelsohn and the cat both steal the show.

Here is my reaction: CAPTAIN MARVEL ABSOLUTELY SOARS! #HigherFurtherFaster pic.twitter.com/1YEhqIQII9

And as for what to expect when Thanos faces off against Captain Marvel in Avengers: Endgame?
#CaptainMarvel: Well, Thanos is fucked.

In addition to lauding Larson’s performance itself, a number of others highlighted her chemistry with Samuel L. Jackson’s young Nick Fury and Lashana Lynch, who plays Carol’s best friend and fellow Air Force pilot Maria Rambeau. Of course, Goose the Cat—who stole the hearts of millions in the trailer—also received a ton of praise, as did Ben Mendelsohn, who has yet to meet a scene he couldn’t steal.
If you weren’t already planning on seeing it (really?), these first reactions should be all the convincing you need to go see Captain Marvel when it opens in theaters on March 8th.
