The first pictures from ‘Daredevil’ season 2 are here!
If you’re seriously missing a gritty Marvel binge right now, don’t worry, season 2 of Daredevil is coming. The first joint venture between Marvel and Netflix landed on the streaming site earlier this year and left us glued to our TVs/computers/iPads/mobile devices as we devoured the series oh-so-fast. It was like nothing Marvel, let alone Netflix, had ever done before, and we’re totally ready for more. That more is now, because the first images for Daredevil’s second season have arrived.
Entertainment Weekly got their hands on some brand new Daredevil info, along with a few pictures, that show us right where season 2 is going to pick up. Matt Murdock (Charlie Cox) is still fighting the law by day, fighting crime by night. He’s also now got his brand new Daredevil suit, which we caught a glimpse of at the very end of season 1. Hopefully I’m not the only one who’s going to miss that all-black tight shirt ensemble. Wait, what?
With the first Daredevil villain behind bars (we’ll miss you, Kingpin), season 2 gets a new foe. Or, a new anti-hero, if you will, in the form of Marvel character Frank Castle, also known as The Puninsher. He’s everything Matt Murdock is not, and he’s also on a quest to clean up Hell’s Kitchen. He just has a different way of doing it: Matt uses his fists, Frank’s going to use a gun.
“Viewers watching the show will be rooting for this guy with a gun but we’re also going to force people — the way we force Matt — to second-guess themselves,” new season 2 showrunner Doug Petrie explains. “Taking lethal justice into your own hands in America in 2015 is tricky. We have not shied away from the rich complicated reality of Now… We’re stirring the pot and we’re aware of the headlines where we live and we’re trying to get people to think.”
If you thought season 1 had lots of violence, it sounds like season 2 will have even more. Also, more sex! Matt and Karen Page will get cozy. If that’s not enough, one of Matt’s former college girlfriends will show up, too, the one and only Elektra. According to Petrie, “She does everything wrong and attractive, she’s his id, the wild side. Matt is always taming his wild side. Elektra just lets it out. He’s both repulsed and deeply drawn to that.”
What’s that word for when you want to watch something right now, but you can’t? Oh yeah, the WORST. Daredevil season 2 is currently shooting right now, and will land on Netflix sometime in the spring. At least it sounds like the wait will be worth it.
