OMG. As if we weren’t already excited enough for the upcoming Mary Poppins sequel, now we have photographic evidence that it’s actually happening — and looks amazing. The upcoming film stars Emily Blunt as Mary Poppins and finally the first photo from Mary Poppins Returns in here!
Mary Poppins Returns is the sequel to the classic 1964 musical starring Julie Andrews. You probably watched it a couple hundred times as a kid while wishing Mary Poppins was your nanny. Now, Emily Blunt takes on the role of Mary Poppins along with an all-star cast — Lin Manuel-Miranda, Meryl Streep, Colin Firth, Emily Mortimer, and Ben Whishaw, just to name a few. Yes, that’s a seriously outstanding cast.
The film will pick up 20 years or so after the original. The kids are grown with kids of their own and Mary Poppins returns to bring another bout of joy into their lives just when they desperately need it. So without further ado, let’s take a look at the first photo of Emily Blunt as Mary Poppins.
In the photo, it’s obvious that Mary has gotten a little wardrobe change but still manages to give off distinct vibes of familiarity. Anyone else feel instantly comforted just looking at this photo?! Yes, we’re all so excited. We’ll have to wait until December 25th, 2018, to finally see the film but OMG it’ll be the best Christmas present ever.
