The first picture from the Young Han Solo movie is here to save us all
Just when you think all hope is lost and the Empire has won, in swoops Han Solo to save the day! Amazingly, that’s actually happening IRL right now, too! Just when everything looks dark and bleak and nothing makes sense anymore, the first picture from the Young Han Solo movie is here. Suddenly, it sure seems like we’ll pull through to fight another day with Han by our side!
Hot off the heels of the first stand-alone Star Wars spin-off (Rogue One, as if you could have forgotten), the still-untitled Young Han Solo movie will focus on — you guessed it — young Han Solo. Han will be played by Alden Ehrenreich, and joined by his on-screen besties, Lando Calrissian (Donald Glover, omg) and Chewbaca. Also joining in on the Millennium Falcon fun are Woody Harrelson and Emilia Clarke in ~mysterious~ roles.
This is all very exciting, and this is only just the beginning of our young Han Solo journey.
It appears as if the film went into production today, and 1/2 of the directing team, Chris Miller (who’s sharing directing duties with Phil Lord), posted the first behind-the-scenes image. It is a double-punch of Star Wars goodness. He captions his image, “Han first shot,” and we see what you did there, and like, duh.

Taking a closer look at the clapper, the movie is actually titled Star Wars: Red Cup. Because, you know, Red Solo Cups. As in, Han Solo. GET IT? Come on, would you expect any other kind of pun from the two directors behind 21 Jump Street and The Lego Movie?
The wait for this movie is going to be a rough one, so buckle in. The Young Han Solo movie is slated to hit theaters in 2018 (probably in December). That’s enough time to do the Kessel Run like, a hundred times.
