Here’s the first photo of the Suicide Squad together, at last!
Oh hello, Suicide Squad.
For the first time since the movie was announced, the whole Suicide Squad cast gathered together for a table read of the film. OK, well, everyone’s there but Jared Leto, who will play The Joker. We’re willing to let his absence slide if only because there’s a surprisingly new member of this cast: Mindy Project‘s Ike Barinholtz. Whaaaat??
Suicide Squad‘s director, David Ayers, tweeted out the picture yesterday evening showing the whole bunch. We’ve got Will Smith as Deadshot, Margot Robbie as Harley Quinn, Joel Kinnaman as Rick Flag, Cara Delevingne as Enchantress, Karen Fukuhara as Plastique, Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje as Killer Croc, and Viola Davis as Amanda Waller (who’s in charge of the Suicide Squad).
There’s also Ike nestled far on the side looking extremely happy, along with Adam Beach, the second surprise member of this cast. Doubtful they’re just hanging out at this table read to hang out at this table read (even though we would if we could), so now the bigger question — who are they playing??
The Suicide Squad has had dozens of rotating members throughout the years — along with all other untapped DC villains — so we’ve got a ton of options for their characters. Slash Films is reporting that Ike will play super villain Hugo Strange, and Adam will play the role previously held by Joe Manganiello, Deathstroke. Enough names and villains to keep up with yet?
Don’t worry if you can’t keep all these DC characters straight. (I’ll draft up a chart highlighting differences between Deadshot and Deathstroke, OK?) Suicide Squad still doesn’t open until August of 2016, so that’s plenty of time to figure all this out. Either way, we are ready and exited to get this mission started.
