Here’s our first look at Disney’s latest princess, Moana, in action
The minute we at HelloGiggles heard about Disney’s latest princess, Moana, we were overjoyed and downright brimming with excitement. So it feels like a real gift that Disney has decided to release some early footage of Moana, just adding fuel to our fangirl fire!
For those readers who don’t know, the film will introduce us to a new Disney princess from the South Pacific who is strong-willed, spirited, and brave: she’s not at all afraid to sail on dangerous oceans. In other words, Moana sounds awesome. She’s the kind of role model we want to see in our movies! So far we’ve only seen some concept art and character stills from the film, but now the first footage from the movie has been teased in a quick new sneak peek video. Get ready to hit “replay” over and over again.
We know, there’s not a lot to go on. But while there isn’t more than a few seconds of footage, we at least can get a feel for the movie. And it looks like Dwayne Johnson is perfectly cast as the once powerful demi-god Maui. Dwayne Johnson has never been afraid to provide some comic relief, and he seems to be in full form here, reminding many of us of the Genie in Aladdin.
Moana, meanwhile, will be voiced by newcomer Auli’i Cravalho, a fourteen-year-old native of Oahu, Hawaii! Cravalho’s comments on her break-out role have us even more excited for the movie: “Moana is such an amazing character. She’s brave, she is so empowered, she knows what she wants and she’s not afraid to get it, and I think that’s something that I can relate to as well. I just love watching how she goes along in this wonderful movie and grows as a person and helps her culture along the way.”
Moana hits theaters November 23rd, 2016. We’ve already marked our calendars with a million exclamation points.
