The First Gentleman of Luxembourg, married to the world’s only openly gay Prime Minister, just posed for pics with a group of First Ladies
With the addition of its newest member, The First Wives Club might be looking to change its name. On Thursday during the NATO summit in Brussels, the First Gentleman of Luxembourg posed for pictures with a group of First Ladies while their husbands were off attending the conference. Gauthier Destenay, the husband of Luxembourg’s Prime Minister Xavier Bettel (who is currently the world’s only openly-gay prime minister) looked dapper as ever as he stood among the beautiful bevy of First Ladies — including First Lady of France Brigitte Macron, First Lady of the U.S. Melania Trump, and Queen Mathilde of Belgium.
The First Gentleman of Luxembourg was all smiles.

In 2015, after Luxembourg’s legislators approved gay marriage, Bettel and Destenay (who is a Belgian architect) tied the knot just two months later. Bettel is the first gay prime minister in Luxembourg and the third in Europe, after Iceland’s Jóhanna Sigurdardóttir and Belgium’s Elio Di Rupo, and the only openly gay world leader currently in power.
During his election campaign his sexuality was not a secret nor an issue. In an interview he said,
“I have just one life and I don't want to hide my life. But I was not the 'gay candidate.' People didn't vote for me because I'm gay or I'm straight.

The group of First Spouses visited with sick children and toured a museum dedicated to Belgian surrealist painter Rene Magritte. And by the looks of it, everyone had a wonderful time.
