The first “Game of Thrones” poster for Season 7 has us shook

Winter might be over for us IRL, but for Westeros, it’s coming. Unfortunately, just not fast enough. HBO is still being super coy when it comes to the release date of Game of Thrones Season 7, and the only thing we have to go off of is ~sometime~ this summer. At least we have this brand new poster for the upcoming season to hold us over…for now.

Ahead of the Game of Thrones things that will happen at this year’s SXSW, HBO has released the first poster for the series. It is comically bare. Like, might as well have just taken a picture of a snowbank in Winterfell or something. This block of ice could be from ANYWHERE.

Though it’s barren, like whatever’s beyond the Wall, the ice is mixed with what is unmistakably fire — eh, A Song of Ice and Fire, anyone?

Honestly, it’s so empty, we thought it needed a little more pizzaz, so here you go:

Last we left Westeros, things weren’t looking up for anyone. Well, unless you’re Dany and you’ve got three dragons and are riding to King’s Landing to claim the Iron Throne. Everyone else, not so much.

THe poster clearly hints at the conflict that’s going to go down in Season 7, which will probably include some epic battle involving both ice and fire. Dany’s going to use her fire, and no-longer-dead Jon Snow is going up against some ice whenever he squares off against the White Walkers again. Who knows, maybe the ice and fire will even meet the other! (Whispers, they will.)

Get comfortable. Our Game of Thrones Season 7 watch has only just begun.
