Is this the first bit of dialogue from “Star Wars Episode VIII?”
Now that it’s December we feel that we can legitimately get excited. Not for Christmas, but for Rogue One: A Star Wars Story. With that excitement comes more info about the next episode in the space opera series, more specifically the first bit of dialogue from Star Wars Episode VIII!
While we have another year to wait until the Rian Johnson-directed sequel to The Force Awakens, we will be revisiting a galaxy far, far away for Rogue One, a stand alone film set in between Revenge of the Sith and A New Hope.
However, with rumors that the trailer for the next yet-to-be-titled Star Wars movie could drop any time, it seems that we might also now know what the first piece of dialogue is in the movie, too.
*Beware, possible spoilers below…*
According to a report in International Business Times, YouTuber Mike Zeroh claims to have come across a piece of dialogue set to appear in the Episode VIII trailer. Speaking in a YouTube video, Mike states that he received this piece of information from four different sources, two of whom he trusts and two that he’s not so sure about. So, he warns, to take all of this with a pinch (or bucket) of salt.
So, what are the words spoken? Well apparently they are said by Luke Skywalker (Mark Hamill) to Rey and they are:
"You contain the spark that will rekindle the fire.
The end of The Force Awakens saw Rey hunting out Luke Skywalker in a bid to help rekindle the light side of The Force. She found the legendary Jedi at the top of a mountain after finding the co-ordinates hidden inside R2D2. The film ends with Rey handing Luke back his lightsaber, however Luke himself doesn’t actually say anything at all. So, if this leaked piece of dialogue turns out to be true, it could be the first thing that Luke Skywalker utters in the new trilogy. Exciting stuff!
While little information is known about Episode VIII, we do know that the film picks up right after The Force Awakens, so there’s a real possibility that this piece of dialogue could literally be the first thing that is said in the film.
We guess we’ll have to just wait until the trailer drops early next year. Until then, we have Rogue One: A Star Wars Story to keep us occupied when it opens on December 16th.
