This new web series could fill the ‘Firefly’-sized hole in our hearts

Browncoats assemble! Though we will never ever give up the hope of a Firefly revival, Nathan Fillion and Alan Tudyk are bringing us the next best thing. These two have teamed up to make a web series, and now they need our help to make it happen.

Captain Mal Reynolds and Wash Fillion and Tudyk launched an Indiegogo campaign earlier this morning for a webseries they plan to star in. It’s called Con Man, and the plot sounds vaguely familiar: they play actors from a gone-too-soon TV show — Spectrum — and one of them goes on to become a huge A-list movie star (Fillion) while the other (Tudyk) sticks to the comic convention circuit.

If you know anything about these two, you’ll know that Fillion has basically ascend to Geek God status and now has a billion seasons of ABC’s Castle under his belt, while Tudyk tends to stick to guest-star appearances here and there. But we love them both THE SAME — Captain Tight Pants and Wash 4EVA.

As Tudyk writes on the campaign page, “The series is a light-hearted take on the personalities, luminaries, and characters in the scifi community we are privileged to call ourselves members. Con Man is a way to share some of the surreal occurrences we have had, while telling the story of a guy learning to love and embrace his fans.” Sign us up.

The campaign was launched this morning, and as of right now, it’s already 74% funded. Basically, expect some Con Man to come our way very soon. In the meantime, check out the hilarious video of Fillion and Tudyk announcing the project. In it Fillion, says that it’s still “too soon” to talk about Firefly‘s cancellation, because, well it’s always too soon to talk about that.
