Fiona the baby hippo was reunited with her mom and dad, and no, YOU’RE crying
If you’re looking for something to hit you right in the feels, then you need to see these pictures of Fiona the baby hippo reunited with her family.
Fiona, if you’re not aware, has sent the internet into a tizzy. The baby hippo was born prematurely in January, and has since amassed swathes of internet fans who are obsessed with watching this adorable animal grow. Whether it’s seeing Fiona take her first steps, freaking out over what the heck bubbles are, or having her mouth massaged after her teeth started in, we’ve been following Fiona as she continues to grow into a beautiful hippo.

Fiona, sadly, couldn’t be fed by her mother when she was born due to her size, and in a blog post by the Cincinnati Zoo, where the hippo was born, the staff explained that Fiona would need some extra special care until she was a little more developed.
But recently it seems that Fi has been exploring her outdoor surroundings, and was actually reunited outside with her parents: Bibi and Henry.
While Fiona and Bibi have been getting to know each other, Henry has kept his distance. Yet yesterday (July 11th), Henry, Bibi, and Fi were all together for the first time!
In the caption, Cincinnati Zoo wrote that they were so happy about the family reunion.
“BiFi (the power duo name that’s being used for Bibi and Fiona) was joined by Henry this morning for the first time,” they wrote. “The three were introduced in Hippo Cove’s outdoor pool before the Zoo opened, supervised by their care team. The short introduction went well. Bibi intervened when Henry got too close to Fiona, which was exactly what we were hoping to see.”
The zoo said these introductions would continue until Fiona is fully integrated outdoors (although she’ll still be able to go inside if she wants).
They later shared a video of the reunion, and no, YOU’RE crying.
We’re glad that after months of growing, Fiona is finally getting to a place where she can be reunited with her family. We can’t wait to see more updates as she progresses.
