Finn Wolfhard is clapping back hard at trolls coming for the “Stranger Things” cast

Making us love him even more, Stranger Things star Finn Wolfhard spoke out about fans harassing his cast, and we’re so with him on this.

Everybody knows that being ~famous~ can come with some unpleasant baggage, not the least of which is that your life suddenly becomes something everybody on Earth feels they have the right to comment on. We’re sure it’s difficult for anybody to deal with, let alone the young kids in the Stranger Things cast!

And it’s seemingly been more difficult lately because the cast has been receiving some inappropriate comments from fans of the show, and that’s not okay. Wolfhard, specifically, came under scrutiny when he didn’t stop to meet with fans who were waiting outside his hotel. One fan took to Twitter to criticize Wolfhard in response, and even called him “heartless.” false

Stranger Things alum Shannon Purser and Game of Thrones star Sophie Turner defended Wolfhard (and the young cast members at large), and rightfully so. Those cast members are all under a lot of pressure and scrutiny right now, with the massive success of the show. And while they have these explosive careers, it’s so important to remember that they are kids — and we especially need to protect and respect their right to privacy.

Obviously, making anybody uncomfortable is never acceptable.

But we feel extra protective of children in the limelight, who might be more deeply impacted by this treatment. And sadly, things must have escalated even more, because Finn Wolfhard took to Twitter to call out this behavior, and we can’t retweet this important message enough.

His first tweet reads:

"Hey everybody! I don't wanna ex-communicate anyone from this fandom, but if you are for real you will not harass my friends, or co-workers. Ya'll know who you are."

He followed up that comment with another tweet, along similar lines. We’re pretty shocked and upset that this is something a 14-year-old has to speak out about, and super commend Finn for having the maturity to address it so calmly.

Our memory of being 14 is pretty much a blur of emotional roller coastering, so we can’t imagine dealing with these sort of issues on top of that. Let alone with such poise!

Hopefully, people take this message to heart, and check themselves before making folks they claim to admire uncomfortable in the future.
