Finn Wolfhard’s next film is a haunted house horror, and we’re having “It” flashbacks

Staying totally on brand, Finn Wolfhard will star in horror flick The Turning. Following his rise to ~stardom~ after he charmed us all as Mike on Stranger Things, Finn Wolfhard took on a lead role in It. So we think it’s safe to say that he’s found a niche, and it’s horror. This time, he’s set to star opposite Mackenzie Davis in a haunted house movie, which sounds super great and also super scary. We’re not totally sure we can handle it, but we are excited.

The Turning is an adaptation of The Turn of the Screw, a Henry James novella.

It’s about a nanny to two orphans and the country mansion they live in — which is obvs totally haunted. Finn will appear as one of the orphans, according to Variety.

And we’re extra excited about this movie because as of right now, it’s going to be written and directed by women! Gender parity in entertainment isn’t exactly great, especially when you get into more niche genres like horror — where women don’t seem to be given the same opportunities with any real frequency.

The Turning will be directed by Floria Sigismondi, who’s originally a music video director, but lately has been killing the game in television, directing episodes of The Handmaid’s Tale and American Gods. Jade Bartlett is writing the newest draft of The Turning — she doesn’t have a lot of credits under her belt yet, so we’re also excited that this movie is giving a new female voice a chance to be heard!

Production is set to start in 2018 — plenty of time to work up the courage to brave this Finn Wolfhard-starring horror film.
