The Internet wants to find the women in these beautiful mystery photos

Alright, Internet. We have a job for you. It’s one of those things that sounds like a movie, or the beginning of some kind of romance novel. Local photographer Meagan Abell, from Richmond, VA, was thrift shopping a few weeks ago when she stumbled across some sets of medium format negatives. Four, to be exact. They looked old, probably from around the 50s, so of course Abell bought them right away.

A few days ago, she got around to scanning them in…and, well, take a look for yourself:

The photos feature two women, whose faces we don’t really see, wearing blue and red dresses in what looks like the style of around the ’40s or ’50s, lounging about the sea like they’re about to disappear into it. What are the odds that Abell would stumble across photos that are so incredibly beautiful? The lighting is gorgeous, with a sunset peaking over the waves and rocks. It’s the dreamiest, most picturesque setting. Looking at the photos just makes you feel lighter, am I right?

The photos are so mesmerizing that Abell had to know more, so she’s turned to the Internet. She posted the photos on Facebook, along with a plea for help:

When people talk about the “little things” in life, it’s stuff like this! It’s stumbling upon breathtakingly beautiful photographs that tell a story that we can’t quite hear. But the Internet makes all things possible, and if we can find these women, we can listen to their voices.

If you think you know anything, or just want to help out with the search, make sure to use the hashtag #‎FindTheGirlsOnTheNegatives‬. I mean, don’t you want to know the story behind this?:
