‘Fifty Shades Darker’ is officially Rated R for some rather obvious reasons

So, it’s time to get down and dirrty, y’all. No, this isn’t a throwback nod to Christina Aguilera circa 2002 so you can put your away your assless chaps. Wait — on second thought, keep ’em handy because per MovieWeb, Fifty Shades of Darker is officially Rated-R for some rather obvious reasons that might put you in a particularly frisky mood.

Listen, we’ve seen the teasers for Fifty Shades of Darker (that shower scene, tho) and already know that the sequel contains a virtual reality twist, so we fully expected for things between Anastasia Steele and Christian Grey to be kicked up a kinky notch or two. That said, what specifically sealed the deal on the film’s rating is nothing out of the ordinary:

Per the MPAA’s official statement via E!, we can attribute Darkers official R-rating to the following:

"...strong erotic sexual content, some graphic nudity and language."

So basically a lot of this:

Alright, so even a blindfolded Anastasia could’ve seen this one coming. That’s all the more reason for us to anxiously (and a bit breathlessly) continue our countdown to Feb. 10, 2017, when Fifty Shades Darker hits the big screen.
