Fergie revealed that she still loves Josh Duhamel, but the romance just wasn’t there

Earlier this month, Fergie and Josh Duhamel announced they were separating. Obviously, a breakup is heartbreaking and difficult for everyone involved, but we can’t help but admire the amount of love that Fergie has when she speaks of her former partner, Duhamel.

“We’re great friends, Josh and I, there’s so much love that we have for each other. We really like each other, we have fun with each other. We’re just not a romantic couple anymore,” the singer told ET Online earlier this week.

When we talk of ex goals and conscious uncoupling, this relationship demonstrates exactly that.

Fergie describes their relationship like one speaks of their best friend. Their breakup sounds so amicable, it goes deeper than just good co-parenting.

"We are still Axl's parents through and through. And our families — each other's families, the cousins, my nieces, and nephews — it's all the same," the singer revealed, "So that's the only thing that's changed. It's just been all love in our family. Our families are families together and that cannot change. That is Axl's family, the cousins, I mean, all of mine, the Duhamels and the Kempers and everybody that I've fallen in love with, they're a family."

The couple announced their separation last week, after eight years of marriage. They actually split earlier this year but kept it quiet until they were ready to publicly speak about it. In a joint statement released to People.com, the couple wrote, “With absolute love and respect we decided to separate as a couple earlier this year. To give our family the best opportunity to adjust, we wanted to keep this a private matter before sharing it with the public. We are and will always be united in our support of each other and our family.”

Sending love to Fergie, Josh, and Axl as they carve out their own unique modern family.
