Fergie and Josh Duhamel have separated after 8 years of marriage
In sad news of the day, we just found out that Fergie and actor Josh Duhamel have separated after eight years of marriage. Breakups are never easy — no matter who you are or how famous you might be — so we’re sending much love and support to the couple during what we’re sure is a very difficult time.
In a joint statement released to People.com, the pair wrote, "With absolute love and respect we decided to separate as a couple earlier this year. To give our family the best opportunity to adjust, we wanted to keep this a private matter before sharing it with the public. We are and will always be united in our support of each other and our family.
Fergie and Duhamel are parents to four-year-old Axl, so we totally understand their decision to hold off on sharing this news until they had adjusted as a family. While we don’t know when exactly the official split occurred, we do know that the pair posted in celebration of their eighth anniversary this past January — seemingly still together.
According to E! Online, the pair met on the set of Duhamel’s show Las Vegas when the Black Eyed Peas made a guest appearance. In a 2014 interview with the site, Duhamel confessed that his first words to his wife-to-be were simply, “You’re hot.”
"It sounds corny when you say it," he continued. "But I think she knew I was sort of saying it tongue-in-cheek because she had already known that I had a little bit of a crush on her while she was there and it was sort of a way of saying something she already knew."
