Felicity Jones thinks having a powerful female lead in “Rogue One” is NBD and we totally agree

We anxiously anticipate seeing Felicity Jones kick bad guy butt in Rogue One: A Star Wars Story. Everything about the movie looks amazing. And, needless to say, seeing a strong and powerful woman as the lead character is extremely exciting.

But Felicity Jones reminded all of us that a strong woman the only reason we should be excited for the film.

In fact, she considers her commanding character as totally normal. And we honestly couldn’t agree more.

According to Digital Spy, Felicity made some pretty valid points about all the hullabaloo surrounding her character Jyn Erso.

She told Metro, "People keep saying how amazing it is having a female lead and I just sort of feel, well, of course! It shouldn't be such a big deal. We are half the population."

Her matter-of-fact nature about her character helps create exactly the type of dialogue shift that would make it more commonplace to see women as leaders in big action movies. And that is a world we definitely want to live in.

Even the film’s director, Gareth Edwards, echoed her sentiment.

He said, "Obviously we have a female lead but I didn't want to view it that way because the typical thing to do is to go overly into a badass stereotype of a tough woman that no one relates to."

We love the fact that they committed to making sure Jyn will feel totally real. Especially since it will represent the power of real women.

Since the original series, Star Wars always portrays strong women in leadership positions in its universe. So it only seems appropriate that they follow the storyline of yet another of those spectacular women.

We cannot wait to see the badass Jyn in action in Rogue One on December 16.
